Dr. W. Don Edwards was born in Nassau in the Bahamas, to Pastor and Mrs. C.F. Edwards. He has three brothers, Desmond the first son who is a former Senator in the Bahamas, and is a practicing attorney, Barry who is a professor of Music in New York, Garth who is a Medical Doctor and Marline who is a nurse.

 He started his early education at Kings Way High School in Kingston Jamaica. He graduated and went to West Indies Collage (now Northern Caribbean University) where he obtained a B.A. in Theology.  He pastored for a short time in Kingston Jamaica and interned under Pastor B.A. Woodburn, then he was given his own district in St Mary.  He was responsible for 16 churches in the East Jamaica Conference. After spending two years there he migrated to the United States where he attended Andrews University. There he obtained a M.A in religion majoring in Church History and Contemporary Religions. He later received a Fifth Year Diploma in Education.

            He returned to his Alma Mata to serve as Dean of Men and Theology professor for the next 6 years. He married the former Judith Brennan and had one son Donnie before he returned to the Unites States. He joined the Southeastern Conference under Elder James Edgecombe and pastored the Tabernacle/ Hollywood district. Under the guidance of God he built the beautiful Tabernacle Church that now stands on 2nd Street in Miami.

            He was transferred to Homestead/ Key West District where following Gods instructions he built the Key West church. Transferred from Key West/ Homestead district he came to Delray Beach / Belgrade District. During his stay there at Delray Beach, property was purchased for a community center and school. The school started just before he left to return to Andrews University to pursue higher education. At Andrews University while studying for a PhD, in Psychology. He received another Masters Degree in Community Counseling.

 

Dr. Edwards pastored the New Life Church on the campus of the University and was the Prevention Director for the University. He held these posts till he was called to Montreal Quebec to pastor the Westmont SDA Church. Dr. Edwards returned to the United States where he was called to the Arizona Conference to pastor the Beacon Light SDA Church in Phoenix. He was also elected to be the African American Coordinator for that Conference.

            He was appointed Assistant to the President in charge of African American Ministries and now serves as one of the Vice Presidents of that Conference.

Dr. Edwards obtained his PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2003. He has three sons Donnie, who is an accomplished recording artist. Jonathan, a graduate of Southern Adventist University and Adam a student at the University of Portland. He is still married to Judith and is looking for the soon coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

            Dr. Edwards has authored several publications including an Ontology of Poems and a manuscript dealing with “Burn out in the Adventist Clergy”. He is currently working on several others, including “The Mountain War’s, a book on the struggle between good and evil, and “The Eternal Triangle” a book on marriage.
